BIW, or Body in White, refers to the stage in automobile manufacturing where the vehicle's body sheet metal is assembled, forming the main load-bearing structure before painting and the addition of other components like the engine, chassis, and trim. It's essentially the welded car body shell, including elements like the underbody, body sides, front end, and roof.
